The final check list on the getaway holiday plan should be money, IDs and if you have booked any prior hotels , flights or accommodations the notice showing your reservations numbers.

If you are travelling by road, plan the roads you will use to get to your destination.

Google maps is an excellent place to plan your road trip ahead and if you have GPS even better.

Some smartphones also have GPS capability check with your carrier if your phone has that.

If you don’t have a GPS take a good road map with you that you understand and can follow, study this before hitting the road.

Your car should be in good condition to make the journey to the destination and back if you are unsure, take it to a trusted mechanic and ask them.

On the day you are about to hit the road, check a few things around the car such as the tire pressure, radiator water level, windshield water level and all lights are working including brake lights, reverse lights and indicator lights.

Put enough gas in the car a day or two before you travel, avoid trying to rush during the day of your travel.

Taking a flight maybe easier but it can leave you at the mercy of public transport or taxi and you have to allow for more time if they set you down too far from the terminal.

A common mistake some people make is that they end up in the wrong terminal and they have to quickly walk and make their way to the correct terminal, be prepared for a long walk if you make this mistake.

Make sure you are somewhat familiar with the territory before you travel. If it’s a city, it will likely have subways which you can check online and study the destinations and routes for visits and sightseeing.

When you get to your destination, always ask people at the hotel for help, despite what you think you may know, they can be very useful.
