Taking a flight maybe easier but it can leave you at the mercy of public transport or taxi and you have to allow for more time if they set you down too far from the terminal.
A common mistake some people make is that they end up in the wrong terminal and they have to quickly walk and make their way to the correct terminal, be prepared for a long walk if you make this mistake.
Make sure you are somewhat familiar with the territory before you travel. If it’s a city, it will likely have subways which you can check online and study the destinations and routes for visits and sightseeing.

Despite all the planning the idea of the holiday is ultimately to have great fun together.
Think of the planning as a build up to the actual adventure and it won’t seem like such a chore.
