What is common to 100 free dating sites and 100% free dating sites (part 2)
Continuing on our previous discussion of why the percentage symbol ‘%’ is treated differently in the case of search engine results as compared to say Adwords data output, it’s because of the way databases handle ‘%’
Usually, the ‘%’ is a reserved letter used for many sql statements in databases and the problem happens when this character is stored within the same phrases. Some indexes or databases can handle this well by circumventing the problem by wrapping other characters around the % symbol such as an apostrophe. However, in other cases the information is not stored or stripped as the case maybe to avoid this problem altogether.

However, the last option does not help the problem and in such cases may store erroneous data as a result of stripping away the % symbol.
It is really up the engine to decide how to operate on the meaning and definition of each of the phrases ‘100% free dating sites’ and ‘100 free dating sites’. In the case of Adwords, the shortcut has been take to delimit the % symbol and therefore does not show up in the result sets.
