Asking for a date - how to break the ice for men - Part 25

As part of the initial training we need to put our frame of mind into an area where we do like to meet people and we are comfortable having people around us.

This is important if you are to succeed in having a natural flair to meeting people of the opposite sex and in any case it improves our social skills tremendously.

You have come to realize there are no magic solutions to the whole process and what we do as individuals and seen by other people require us to expand our social skills.

It is very important that we have an uplifting quality in our personality because this will make the skills required in social intercourse that much easier.

Start by making small but noticeable changes to your daily life, for example next time you are in a grocery store, try to say something out of the ordinary with the cashier.

You will be surprised how this can change your mood and thinking.

Say something complimentary for example, how deft she is with her hands in handling all the groceries or the color of her blouse.

You can strike a repertoire fairly easily like this and it won’t appear contrived, just making simple wholesome conversation.

Do that often enough and you will find that talking is not such a big deal if you are not the kind of person to say much.

The important thing to remember is that it helps you with your social skills and puts you in a frame of mind outside of yourself.

All of these are key points that will help you to make the whole business of talking to a stranger feel natural and even enjoyable.

One of the sticking point men have is that it is ok to talk to a stranger that you are not interested in a date, but what about the actual people that you are really interested in.

The same concept applies when you approach someone you do want to date.

Make the whole thing as natural as possible, for example, if you are in a shop and you see someone you like, try to cross paths with her and then say, ‘what do you think to this and this, do you think my mum would like this for her birthday?

You don’t have to use the exact lines but you know what I mean.

You may notice the woman goes on the defense on some occasions, this is hardly anything to concern yourself.

Try to stick to the subject and smile reassuringly looking for an answer.

This will definitely open up to a conversation with her which is what you want.

Ok, now that you have struck up a conversation, now what you ask.

If you follow the principles that I was saying earlier about being natural, you should also find it as natural asking the person for a date.

As an example, you could say, ‘hmm that is very interesting, I never looked at it this way, I sure hope you can join me for coffee and we can talk more, I’ll buy’.

With practice you will get the hang of it and you won’t think twice about approaching someone to talk to.

Fix in your mind that there are absolutely no hang-ups in going up to someone and just striking a conversation and it will be like child’s play.

More importantly make the point of maintaining a good frame of mind each day, that is why it is important for you to address your daily lives and make it more interesting for yourself.

Try to look at life as challenging, interesting and a place where you can explore.

There will be other people who will try to bring you down, but just simply ignore them, they don’t have to be your friends, it is your prerogative.
