Dr. Dato’s Brief:
This post has been created by ariomness who conducted a poll for online dating users trying to gauge the level of activity that users go through messaging before having a meeting with their date.
The poll has three parts:
1. How many messages do you exchange on average with people that contact you or contacted by?
Answer 4-5 messages as the top answer
2. How many messages would you exchange before meeting someone?
Answer 3-5 messages as top answer
3. How many messages did you exchange before meeting someone?
Answer 3-4 messages as top answer
Hmm, not sure what to make of this poll but the number count suggests that people are willing to move to the meeting stage fairly rapidly following initial communication. It goes against the previous advice of my last post where a successful outcome in online dating occurs over a longer time period.
It would seem people are living busy and fast lives but my understanding is that if you are prepared to spend a lifetime together surely the initial phase of a relationship is just as important. It’s possible that we are missing out on a deeper level by skimming on the surface and moving from one profile to another and dating profiles can be far removed from the ‘real’ person behind their profile.

is it possible that in dating we are missing out on people by moving too fast?
