You need to be careful about selecting a domain name that has been parked as a traffic generator by scammers only interested in harnessing traffic for that unique domain.

For example, scammers who look for good sounding domain names that people will generated traffic by people directly tying the url name in their browser.

Google has done a good job of recently filtering those useless sites and have removed most of them from their index.

You can check many websites that show you important historical traffic data before you decide to purchase by going to Alexa.com.

Do as much research on an existing domain name that you will purchase including the whois logs of the domain.

Sometime ago, I purchased back an old domain that was lost to one of the scammers who bought it when it went accidently into public hands because it had attained some traffic.

However, the domain was part of another site which actually generated the traffic so it was ‘useless’ to the buyer as he soon found out.

(2) Decide on the unique angle that you are going to get your users

Before you even construct the website, try to think what you unique angle towards your new site is, because it doesn’t make sense to become another company that just makes ‘forks’ because you are likely to be lost amongst the many other existing players in the market.

Your original idea may have unique features that possibly motivated you to start this online venture in any case, so that should be your starting point.

Providing you have given this time and thought and worked out the feasibility of this new ‘pitch’ with other people and not just yourself, you will have a better chance.

(3) Planning stages

No doubt the first part of your implementation will occur following your substantial efforts at the early planning stages and will include information on building the site (architecture), technology to use, resources available and of course a timeline.

I would highly recommend that you spend as much time as possible at this early critical stage of planning, because it can prevent many potential headaches down the line.

In an online dating site, you need to consider, the web pages that are crafted from the users point of view, so the layout of the web architecture and navigation will come into play.

Leave the implementation of the code to the developers and providing they are seasoned programmers, they will be able to fit any page and functionality to the backend database.

However, make sure that you screen your developers before for similar experience to the development of your free dating site that you are trying to create.

(4) Implementation stage

Once you arrive at this part of the work, you are ready to create the new website.

Your layouts, drawings, functionality, navigation structure of your site should be handed to your developers for coding.

One approach, I often use which is by no means the only one, I often create the html pages first without the functionality but have an ‘assumed’ functionality and then deliver those pages to the programmer.

He can usually ‘bolt’ the backend code to those pages. In the design stages you should also have your web pages and content in place AND ideally with the SEO optimized titles, meta-tags and content.

It pays to spend more time on the SEO as this will have a big impact on how Google will view your entire website and pages and index it into its database.

Speed dating has been around with us for a while and although it has been diminishing in popularity there are still a few companies still engaged in this business.

8MinuteDating is one of a few companies promoting Speed Dating

The way it works is the company forms an alliance with a bar or restaurant during off-peak hours to secure the place somewhat cheaply.

They may have an agreement with the owner of the establishment that food will be served to the guests in which case they can offset some of their costs.

If you have never been to a speed-dating event I suggest that you give it a try.

It can be quite an eye opener. The one I went to, was called 8minutedating where the event was hosted in downtown San Jose.

My friend and I decided to give this a try and we got there a few minutes early and there were a few people already gathered there.

They had setup bar-height tables with numbers on them and the host started by explaining the details of the event.
