Catchsocial.com is trying to do what others have been trying to do for years and that is to organize events coupled to the online dating scene. The fact of the matter is that to do BOTH simultaneously takes real hard work and not many have succeeded.

Take for example speed dating where entrepreneurs have tried to tie the online scene to the actual events hosted by them. I had previously reported in my article of one company who did a fairly good job on the brick and mortar of speed dating but failed miserably in their online system.

Marrying the two ie. brick and mortar business with the online business is way too difficult, particularly if you don’t have the resources or capital.

My motto, stick to one or the other, specialize in that niche market and then expand.

Here is an interesting article that talks about how more people in particular men now choose to look for women who are not outrageously attractive. It goes on to say that the reasons for this is due to the greater chance of getting hits with women of less caliber in the beauty stakes.

It makes a point where one man suggested that Angelina Jolie was physically repulsive to him.

I think the truth of this story is that grown men, ie. mature men often look beyond the looks department since they are aware that personality is the biggest trait that they will have to live with and not just the looks.

Look and Feel

In terms of looks and feel the plentyoffish website is not very eye catching. The website has been crafted with soft colors of gray, sky blue and white. Even the menus positioned at the top are are in text format. Although the site is not visually pleasing, it has been designed with the search engine in mind and that’s what makes POF where it is today.

Registration Process

Registration process of the site is very similar to the other dating sites and is hassle free. Registration is open for selected countries like US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany and Italy and other countries appear to be blocked by country block IP screening. Possibly to detract spammers emanating from those countries but personally spammers today have tools where they can ’spoof’ their IP address to any region or country they wish. This means that plentyoffish will have to deal with its own set of spammers just like any other dating sites.

User just needs to provide detail of username, password, email, country, age and type the captcha and they are done with registration process. Registration can be finished in 30 seconds. User need to be above 18 and profile not been filler completely gets deleted by administrator.

Login & Customizing Profiles

Login to the website is by your username and password and there is no option to login using email. Customizing your profile has been taken care of in a very detailed way as I will explain.
