Although categories can be important to ‘group’ people together, but the significant point is do people of the same profession necessarily have a ‘good relationship’ as opposed to people from different professions. However, if you examine the statistics of many married couples, you will no doubt find couples married who are from the same profession. For example, you may find matches between doctor/doctor, doctor/nurses, engineer/engineer etc. Are these statistics telling us that people often marry into the same profession? I think not.

The reason for having some of these skewed statistics in marriage by professions is because the people are in that profession and they are likely to meet other people in the same profession. This is a fact of life - you will often find many married couples who meet each other in their profession because they have met each through the job.

In conclusion, I believe such categorization of dating sites will see some initial interest by people because of the novelty but in the long term sites catering to common ‘personalities’ are more likely to succeed.

I found this article through the Google Dating Alerts I receive in my email inbox almost every day. So far a number of these postings can be passed off as not readable or not having any worthy content. However, some posters are very clever in promoting other dating sites through articles such as this.

Unknown to the reader, this article makes out that Asda, which is a famous supermarket like Safeway here in USA have officially launched a dating site called AsdaDating.com. This struck me as rather interesting and curiosity got the better of me, since my specialty includes researching in the online dating scene. By the way Asda is owned by the meg retailer Wal-Mart.

The subject of the article is interesting as it talks about how someone’s shopping basket can be compared with someone else and a relationship compatibility match can be extracted from this information. It has several people writing in and sharing their notes on this subject. Unfortunately, on further investigation there is no such site called AsdaDating.com and in fact the link takes you to UKDating.com which is a pretty generic dating site in UK.

One will come across marketing techniques such as this to drive traffic to the dating site but I am surprised that a creditable paper such as the Guardian.co.uk did not check it’s own story out for accuracy or maybe they are in the marketing scheme themselves?

This is an interesting article that talks about online dating encounter can be similar or dissimilar to dating encounters in the real world. Typically strangers who are not known through you or family or colleagues fall into the category of the ‘unknown’ and therefore you should tread carefully.

However, treading carefully may give the impression that the person cannot be trusted as pointed out by one reader who also claims that there are no differences between meeting someone online or say in a bar. Women generally don’t want to reveal their true identity in case of ‘issues’ further ahead.

The important point to this post, is that both men and women need to remain vigilant about each other until a mutual trust can be developed between the dating partners. Who is to tell if the woman is clingy or abusive or the man is just simply playing the game?
