Usually there are no restrictions on the subject of conversation and you can pretty much talk about any topics that interests either of you.
The usual etiquette of conversation applies where you need to show consideration during the conversation and if the person is a bit shy, try to pick up on something of interest to both of you.
In terms of where to go for a date, usually anything is acceptible to the woman as long as its not too outrageous.
However, try to keep it to something less extravagant such as a movie, dinner or even coffee.
The conversation between the two is more important to this initial date.
