(d) Consideration of others
This is a basic quality that all people will need to have that want to be liked by other people.
Try to be considerate and polite to others and the rewards will be greater and immeasurable in ways that you can’t imagine.
By complementing others (point 9), you are not just giving flattery just for the sake of it, you are genuinely showing interest in the other person and showing compassion and respect.
This can give the other person a greater sense of pride that can lift them up too in spirit and mood.
Make sure your compliments do not have any hidden agendas and that it is sincere and comes straight from your heart.

A simple act of consideration goes beyond just dishing out flattery but also being aware of other people around you.
For example, holding the door while someone is behind you, acknowledging when a driver lets you in to his/her lane.
By following these simple acts of kindness can greatly increase your positive outlook (point 1) and increase your worth in other peoples eyes by appearing humble (point 10).
A truly likeable person is someone who really does consider others in their social circles and are sensitive to their needs and thought.

(d) When in the company of others
When you are in a group having a conversation, you can well liked by the people in the group without even trying.
That is to listen (point 6) and understanding what the group is talking about.
Don’t worry too much about having to say things in the group, the most important thing is too feel comfortable and just follow the conversation.
Everyone likes a good listener because a many people like to talk about themselves, their accomplishments, what they did or about their interests.
All it takes is an opening line such as ‘How was your day”, “What did you get up to today”, “Did you read anything interesting lately”.
Better still, if you know the person to be engaged in some activity or interested in a particular area, ask them questions on those topics.

Most people would be quick to judge the person as rude and not worth asking again and become spiteful of that person.
However, when living in a household where people are going to cross each other, there is nothing worse than harboring hostility.
I tried not to get ruffled up over this and was polite whenever possible, despite the person’s indifferent attitude towards me.
Because the other person was not able to come out with what was going on in their head and decided to adopt a ‘passive aggressive’ behavior, I decided to confront the situation.

(e) Don’t underestimate or overestimate other people
We would all like to think that we have a pretty good idea of how we stand at work, at home and in our relationships with other people.
However, this is not always the case. By being empathetic to others (point 5), we can often derive a clearer assessment of the ‘real’ situation.
Case in point; A while ago I used to share a house with two other housemates.
One of the tenants had gone for a week break and when they got back, for some reason the person was behaving very oddly.
I asked about the holiday break and invited them to join me for dinner where I was turned down.
