<<< How to be liked through examples – 12 key pointers - part 3
One time I was at Costco and I noticed a gentleman who was about to haul a large box from top of a big pile into his cart.
I immediately went there and offered my assistance and he was so very grateful afterwards.
Not only was he happy but I too felt good afterwards from this simple act of kindness.
When you are happy and in the moment in time, you can almost feel anything is possible.
There is a good reason for the old saying, “when you simile, the whole world smiles, when you cry and you cry alone”.
Try to be engaged in the moment in time and you will find that your passion and drive for living increases and you develop a new sense of direction and happiness.

(b) Humor
Humor is an excellent way to get attention and helps not only to build your self-confidence but also makes the other person happy in the process.
Again, you want to know when humor has its limitations and boundaries (point 7).
Long time ago, I understood this lesson when I was sitting with some of my friends in college discussing some points from our previous lectures.
There was a part in the lecture notes that one of my friends had made which I found amusing and funny.
However, I realized that I had overstepped the line by poking too much fun at it and he wasn’t amused from the reaction on his face.

Many people have different levels of what they consider humor, so it is important to understand that not all humor will work with everyone.
Also the type of event and gathering may call for a different kind of humor and need to be appropriated in that manner.
Try to keep your humor in the context of the event and gathering and it becomes more acceptable than ‘jokes out of a book’ that are pulled from thin air.
To give you a quick example of humor, I was in the canteen of my work place and I was trying to choose between the chicken dish and the lettuce salad.
I told the person to give me the chicken because I didn’t feel like ‘rabbit’ food today.
Although, I didn’t find it all that funny, the other person did.

(c) Make your daily life a positive life
Having an outward positive outlook in life (point 1) means you need to be happy with your current situation and you want to be doing something that you are passionate about.
This has the effect of conveying a sense of positive energy to other people who will be drawn to you.
Most people view the importance of positive energy as a good thing and they always gravitate towards it and if you have this, you are on the right track.
Start by making your life more manageable and most importantly start taking an interest in your job, tasks etc even if you find it mundane.

If the work always appears mundane to you, others can see this in you and will steer clear away from you because you have negative energies trapped inside of you.
Examine how other workers lift their spirits and enjoy what they are doing and try to look at it from their angle.
If you dwell on the negative points too long, it will stay this way, until you find another type of job and so the cycle continues.
As an example, think how scientists will sift through dirt and manure to get to what they are looking for.
By being focused on the end goal or where you want to be, the work will not appear as bad as you make it out to be.
