Nothing has really has changed in the way we date but the possibilities have increased by many folds
Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012
Maureen is getting ready for her date and she is unsure what to wear for that evening. She decides to scrummage through her wardrobe and find the perfect outfit that will hopefully radiate with her dating partner. As she speeds her way upstairs, she receives an instant message on her latest Android cellphone. The message is from Bill and she sighs with relief as she reads on. Bill is going to be about half an hour late to their rendezvous point at Starbucks coffee…well at least he hasn’t canceled as she was so fondly looking forwards to this day.
As Maureen tries out every dress in her closet, she starts panicking since nothing seems to be working for her and time is passing by. What would he like, is this too short or too long and she kicked herself for not asking those questions during the umpteen times they had chatted on the free dating site Jumpdates.com. She finally settles for a black dress which showed off her curvaceous figure but still retaining a sense of modesty. Maureen scrambles for the keys and heads to her car as she dabs some fragrance around her neck area while multitasking with the contents of her handbag. She can’t blunder this one up, she said to herself as flashes of pictures goes through her head of her previous encounter with the French guy.
There is something to be said about dating online and the methods of finding and dating hasn’t really changed that much at all. What has happened is that our choices for locating partners through online dating sites have multiplied by many folds. Granted that there is more screening to do at the initial stage but surely it’s better than say having a choice of three guys that you meet at the bar.

What does love mean to you or your dating partner – Do we really know?
Monday, April 2nd, 2012
For most of us, the word love is used fairly loosely and we often think its a word more associated with other people rather than us. We almost always portray love associated with characters we see in movies and at times we may refer to love to some real world couples that we happen to know. However, when love rears its head and glares at us, we associate the experience with everything else except but love. So why is love so enigmatic and yet we can confidently say that a couple is in love?
Love in my opinion is a very personal affair. One’s interpretation of love could be considered as an anguish or a painful desire for something unattainable. For others it maybe a feeling of euphoria when you think of another person but not necessarily being in the company of that person. This begs the question… can we honestly say that love exists between two people when each of the person concerned are at an elevated feeling just by being with each other or thinking of each other. In other words, it ‘takes two to tango’. Can someone wittingly ‘evoke’ love in another person? After all, in love or during dating each one of use is trying to impress the other. Could our ultimate goal for doing this is to indirectly heighten the pleasure of someone else and thus make them in turn love you?
Whatever it is, we know that love certainly exists. It is a force that paves the way for men and women to achieve great feats of power. The triumph of this power makes both men and women reach elevated states that are often beyond human comprehension. This is something we all want to achieve and in a way gives us a sense of direction and guidance to our lives. In essence, it gives us some purpose and meaning to our lives. In the realm of dating, if two people can bring about these feelings within each other, who is to say it is not love.

The Art of Less Talk on your First Date
Sunday, March 25th, 2012
We often hear from other people that ‘listening’ is a great skill to have but everyone has a different approach to this. In fact, many people especially singles going out on their first date can quite easily botch up the date if this skill is not understood properly or practiced.
So you have met your partner though the free dating site and you are now both sitting across the table having coffee or lunch. This is the best time to hone in on your skills in the listening department because how you come across to each other will determine the outcome of the entire date. Apart from the physical attraction that may exist between the two of you, you are also trying to get snippets of each other through conversation.
If you find yourself the extroverted and the incessant talker, which you should very well know by now, then you definitely have to slow down during the date. This can be hard for some people but a good practice would be to take short breaks when you talk and then distract your mind with something. A good tip is to throw a question back to the other person and wait for them to respond. Remember, this shows an interest on your part and also courteousness and consideration that are slowly diminishing from our society today. When you find yourself in the receiving end of an avid talker, you can do many things such as a mild interruption or changing the topic.
You may find yourself with someone who doesn’t say much and this could be due to many things such as shyness or insecurity etc. Your best bet is to keep the conversation moving and this would be a good time when you can talk about something that you like, for example your hobby. However, only do this when you find yourself needing to ‘pad’ the conversation.
For some people talking becomes natural to them but can be harder for others. Be sure to check out the profile of the person you are dating in more detail so you can feel that you are somewhat matched and the date will not completely go south. Having lots of pictures especially of you engaged in activities on the free dating site will surely tell you more about the person, their personality and the likelihood of the dating conversation.
