Dr. Dato’s Brief:
By shifting the onus onto the owners of the website by Bing and Yahoo will spell big trouble for them and they should change this policy. Google has no issues with my site, and do you honestly think that they will stop crawling a site because it cannot go beyond the first line of code?
Google did not get to where they are by thinking like this, they have brought tools and services that brings a benefit to the end user and they just don’t stop there. They don’t make the lives of the users or the webmasters more difficult than it already is.
Going back to what I was saying earlier, that the idea of omitting important data to end users such as the ‘date of the post’ is bad for several reasons when it comes to Google. If you think that Google is not going to pick up the date when you first registered the post, you are quite mistaken. Google bots now typically visit web sites several times a day, particularly if there is much changing content on the site. It will already have in its database the time it retrieved new content and will deal with it as such.
If you have not decided to add your date to your dating blog, be certain that Google will do this at a future date in time to make it easy for their users. Googles ultimate goal to provide the best benefit to the end user and we know that an end user can become increasingly frustrated not to find a valid date against your blog.

Dr. Dato’s Brief:
The ramifications as I said for placing a header constraint as done by Bing and Yahoo search engines are huge.
So they drop a few websites from their index, so what?
Consider doing a search for ‘Jumpdates’ which I did at the time of the issue… the results were extremely peculiar. Every site that linked to Jumpdates appeared in their first page except Jumpdates?
This potentially leaves a bitter taste with regards to this search engine and one would think it is totally flawed for omitting such information from its index. Typically users would then go to Google because as most people do these days, they cant be bothered to type the complete url of the site but rather find it through the search engines. A big score to the Google market share.
You can see now why ‘omitting’ information can be a bad thing and we will continue to discuss on the original topic but this example was given to drive home the point about the importance of providing complete information to the end user.
By the say, I am happy to report that Bing and Yahoo are indexing Jumpdates, and for what reason I still do not know. As for the future, I cannot say….

key to constant improvement is improving your service or product so that the end user has to work less hard
