There are in total near about 300 questions to be filled into the registration questionnaire and fortunately if it becomes tiring, you can save the work and exit and come back to the questionnaire.

Login & Customizing Profiles

As completing the registration process you are logged into the site and you will see users menu placed at the top which includes your homepage, ‘my matches’, ‘my profile’, reports and settings.

It becomes a bit of a surprise that having completed such a lengthy registration process, I find that my profile is only 22% completed! It is very fortunate that you only have to do this once.

I painstakingly go through this process too and then I am ready to move forward and having compatible matches sent to me.

Photo Profile Section

Photo uploading is very easy as you can import photos from your facebook account and you can import up to 12 photos. If you wish, you can also upload photos from your computer. There are no restrictions of the type of image, so I am guessing they have some monitoring and control over their end.

Uploading a photo is optional.

Browse & Search Feature

As we have previously seen for the dating site chemistry.com this site is also a match making site and as such, there are no areas where you can browse and search for other members, since the system tries to match for you.

The site attempts to find compatible matches to your profile and can be viewed in the ‘My Matches’ section.

However, in order for you to view the full profile and chat with the other members, you need to subscribe to the site.

Messaging

Messaging is not a great feature of this site and you can send mails and ice breakers to the members but you would need to be a premium member to use this feature.

Messaging could be improved by adding additional items such as gifts, kisses and hugs.

What’s Missing

It is common for match-making sites to lack some of the features of other normal dating sites. You will not find chat, IM, gifts on this site and also web storage facility for audio/video clips are not available.

Member Base

The site has got 20 million members from around the world which indicates it’s deep pockets.

The site has sent me a list of members who are compatible to me and I am pretty sure that you will find members within all age groups including ethnicity background and communal faiths in Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism etc.

Longevity

I tried using this site for a good few hours and I found numerous matches that is compatible with me.
The site however, needs some time in finding the compatible matches, however, like all sites it will take some time for me to decide the effectiveness of this site.

I am though, expecting a good response from other members.

To the end of Jan 2010 the member base of the site has been claimed to be more than 54 million. There has been a decrease in the member count in the last year and in Jan 2011 the site has 3,205,102 unique visitors. The site has a very good Google ranking of 287.

Conclusion

eHarmony.com has come to be a trusted name in all the matchmaking sites and you get a sense of this when using the site.

The look and feel of the whole site is attractive with a blue background

The registration process is extremely lengthy and you need to fill all the questions for making the compatible matches work well for you. However, you can save registration in the middle and redo it at a later time.

Messaging is not a great feature of this site and needs to be improved. You can send only mails and ice breakers and you need to subscribe to use all of its features.

Member base is good and you are likely to find some good matches for you considering the enormous pool of members.
