In order to send messages you need to be a subscribed member. Unless you are a member you cannot see any messaging center including inbox and outbox which we have seen in other card dating sites.

Member Base

It is difficult to talk about the member base of this site as this is a unique card dating service and activity is usually offline. However, there are cases where the activity offline is going very well and hence a greater traffic to the site by the card recipients. A good measure of the member base would be based on traffic levels to the site.

Longevity

Longevity can be determined by the number of users using this site. As there are no members to search for, I cannot say about the long-term value of the site, except through activity of the traffic mentioned above.

Ranking Statistics

From the ranking statistics we can say that the site does not have much activity. The site has 421 unique visits last month and only one referring site sending traffic. The site does not enjoy any web ranking yet.

Conclusion

The look and feel of the site is not very attractive and registration to this site is not free and payment is requested in the final step of the registration.

You have to subscribe to buy cards and only then can you be a registered member of this site.

During registration you can upload your profile picture from your computer itself but there are no rules set for the types of photos one can upload.

Messaging is not for free to users and member base and ‘activity’ does not appear to be strong from statistical traffic data.

There are no extraordinary features which will motivate the audience to register to this site and the success is entirely based on how many people who are recipients of the card logs onto the site.

There are many free online dating sites available which makes the task of finding partners easily and more accessible. Although the idea is novel, it is a difficult process to get ‘interested’ parties to use the service especially with a cost and going by the traffic numbers on the site.

Dr. Dato’s Brief:

Talk about ‘niche’ websites, this one is a website catering to the inmates of US prisoners and the post is about a lawsuit brought against the The Boston Herald by convicted rapist Edmund LaChance Jr. LaChance alleged that the articles falsely stated that he had been convicted of manslaughter and had committed a “brutal sexual attack on an elderly woman.”

However, the ironic thing about the story is that Judge ruled against the plaintiff (LaChance) on the grounds that his story lacked any merit because he purposely withheld information from the dating website that shed him in good light and considered to be deceptive to respondents.

I shouldn’t judge here, because everyone is entitled to use the numerous dating sites out there. It maybe that if some of us did reach out to the inmates in this manner then they could grasp a real sense of worth and change the error of their ways.

Talk about spelling mistakes!

The post I made previously talked about grammar and spelling mistake and how to avoid them for the sake of getting more interest in your dating profile. Unfortunately this post by prfire needs a lesson on that too, they had spelt competition incorrectly, but don’t worry, I have corrected it here.

The post talks about a competition organized by the new dating site called Earthrumble.com which I had previously reported in my Dr Dato Blog, The secret online dating site.

This kind of posts seems to be coming up time and time again emphasizing the importance of proper grammar, spelling errors, use of abbreviations and things like that.

If you have read some of my previous posts not directly related to this subject, you will see that the improper usage of the English language can have a negative effect on the part of the reader. Here are my tips for improving in this area where you can write great profiles and maintaining good communication that will have more appeal with your fellow readers. We all want this because its going to get us more dates!

Firstly, it is important to understand that no one has perfect command of the English language with perfect grammar and mistakes are made all the time. In fact, I make the common mistakes such as typing ‘recepient’ instead of the correct spelling ‘recipient’.

The good thing about our online browsers today is that it has a built-in spell detector which you may have noticed when you type a word, it underlines it in red if it has detected a spelling error in that word. I can see the word above ‘recepient’ appearing with a red underline as I write this post in Wordpress. You should pay attention to this and correct it right away, especially if it looks blatant. If you are unable to find the correctly spelt word, just go to Google and copy that word and Google will give you suggestions, its that easy!

However, I noticed that sometimes the built-in spell checkers for browsers does not detect errors such as the case here when I misspelt ‘maintaining’ with ‘maintaing’ which was not detected by a red underline. When I scanned back to that sentence, that is how I spotted it.

The best way to ensure complete accuracy of your writing is to feed it through a dedicated word processor such as MS Word and even some of the online applications such as Google word document. By the way, I am not trying to advocate Google’s products or services, I just think that they have very good tools available to the average Joe like you and me and it is freely available.

Here is another tip that will definitely improve your writing a great deal and this is to write and write about anything that interests you. In this way, you will get used to thinking about the proper structuring of sentences, use of words, typo errors and they instinctively improve your writing style over time.
