Longevity

Personally I tried using the site for a good few hours and I found many members that suit my lifestyle and profile.

I am expecting a healthy response from them and the longevity can be determined after few more visits to the site.

The site has been launched in Jan 2010 since then the number of members has been increasing.

In comparison to the previous year, the website is loosing the member base and the site has only got unique members totalling 2,188 in Jan 2011 which shows -20 % decrease.

But the good news for the site still has 75.77% increases in it’s total visits which are 5,398 (including old and new).

The site also had Google ranking of 210,952. However, keep in mind that their business strategy has shifted to India and they are doing less in the US market, please see the recent NY times article.

Conclusion

Look and feel of the website is good as the site has been well designed and separated by five sections.

The combination of colors is good with a grey background adding a nice touch to the overall look and feel of the site.

The registration process is very simple, easy and hassle free with only a few questions and user has the option to register via facebook account also.

The photo uploading can be done from your computer and with no restrictions or rules.

If you are not a premium member, you won’t see all the options but searching for your match is very easy as the site only automatically displays the lists of your perfect matches.

The messaging feature is well built but not as appealing.

You can send only mails and icebreakers but there are no such options like gifts, hugs, kisses that is usually associated with some dating sites.

From what I could gather from the conversation, expectations are exclusively in areas of respect, courtesy, hygiene, manners and so forth, while desires are what you would expect in love or the emotional content of the relationship. Although, I am not sure if I got this completely right because the meaning of desire is to want or crave something while expectation is something that is expected as a rule.

Since relationships are highly complex, I don’t believe you can make a comparison of the two words since they have no real dependency but you could say that desire is based on one’s own internal needs which may not have been conveyed to the other person. Looks and feel of the site is eye candy with use of soft and rich colors gives an impressionable result to the home page. The site at first glance catches you attention.

As the name of the site implies LoveColor, this website tries to make representations of color and the registration process is long as there were 24 steps to complete. It took me 30 mins. to finish the entire registration process.

The process comprises of entering basic details, lifestyle habits and what kind of match you need, description about yourself, and what it is you like and dislike. You need to be 18+ to register to this site and on the basis of the details you provide, your profile is been give 3 colors.

Login & Customizing Profiles

User can login to this site with their email address and password provided at the time of registration.

Once you have logged into the site, you can change all the details you entered at the time of registration.

As far as the privacy of the user is concerned there doesn’t seem to be any rule for blocking any specified type of user based on their location, distance, type of relationship they are looking for etc.

User can upload only 5 photos with a limitation of 1 MB size only and photos can be directly uploaded from the computer.

Features like uploading/sharing photos from Facebook, Picasa need to be given some consideration as they are becoming very popular amongst users these days.

Browsing through website is very convenient as menus are placed at the top and vertically.

Menus placed at the top are useful for accessing the main features of the site whereas the vertical menus are useful for access to the user account and profile related activities.

Searching is categorized into two parts which are quick search and distance search.

In terms of quick search, the user can search by color which are the colors that have been issued when they registered to the site.

In the distance search, you can search by date or specified distance.

However before searching one has to make sure that the profile has been completed as best as possible.
