Tall Women Dating Shorter Men - Online Dating Briefs by Dr. Dato
Post Subject: Tall Women Dating Shorter Men
Dr. Dato’s Brief:
I came across this new meetup happening in Menolo Park, CA where a woman started a new meetup group to discuss the ‘complications’ of dating shorter man primarily because she just recently started dating a shorter man.
There seems to be some interest from some of the members because it sparks an aged long debate of the battle of the sexes and gender stereotyping. One comment from an experienced man who dated taller women had this to say..
“Hi, I have dated taller women on numerous occasions. Just wanted to say something to you. What you are dealing with are the chauvinistic belief constructs. All the negative beliefs about what a man “should be”, what a woman “should be”. Taught by”
Check it out and see if you should start something like this in your area.

Canadian online dating market - part 1 - Online Dating Briefs by Dr. Dato

Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
I was researching some articles on successful entrepreneurial online dating companies in Canada and how they started and their advise to would-be entrepreneurs. Sometimes it helps to see the bigger ‘jig-saw’ piece together to appreciate what happens behind the scenes of dating companies such as their philosophy, way of doing things, their understanding of people’s habits etc.
We are very fortunate to be living in a world where so many innovations are being launched by entrepreneurs of today and making our lives easier each day. For example, paying bills online, communicating with friends and relatives (locally and globally), taking memorable pictures and videos of family events and also looking for our soul-mate online.
This innovation has not been any less in Canada than over here in USA where some budding entrepreneurs are shaping the online dating industry in that country and bringing it to the world stage. Almost all of us have heard of PlentyOffish, which happens to be a Canadian operation started by Markus Frind who has excelled in promoting himself as single-handedly creating the largest dating site on the planet.
There are a number of other online dating startups in this area and some that have been running now for several years.

Out of the budding entrepreneurs coming out of Canada, the most successful of them has to be Markus Frind whose technical knowledge coupled with his business acumen has driven Plentyoffish to a dominant state where typically it would require an entire team to achieve the same results.
Although Markus hasn’t always been bashful about his achievements, he has nevertheless created a dating site engine that others can aspire to and only admire. Recently though, he has somewhat changed his business strategy and has launched a new dating site in the same line as eharmony called eVow, probably he is seeing a drop in advertising revenue or has reached a saturation point in his POF site.
We have already done a detailed review of eVow in our Top Online Dating Site reviews section.
Let’s hope Markus Frind can find new success with his eVow and perhaps change the playing field in that space of the online dating. Eharmony watch out!

Another dating site of Canadian origin is date.com which in recent times has not been as aggressive in it’s marketing as it used to be a few years ago.
I did conduct a google search for this and when you type ‘date.com news’ into the google search bar, there was little information as to the company’s recent activities or press releases. However, I did see a sponsored listing of the site on google’s search page which could potentially mean they are still active in the business or have an account with google and simply letting it expire.
The information that I gathered from their own page in the ‘About Us’ section is a very old entry by the Director of Marketing posted back in 2006.
Unfortunately nothing to report on this dating site other than it still has good rankings according to alexa; Alexa Traffic Rank: 26,569 United States Traffic Rank in US: 10,015. My feeling is that the business is just winding down which is unfortunate because they were once a major player in the online dating market scene.
**Update - Date.com is operated by Avalanche LLC based out of Miami Beach, FL 33139 USA.

could date.com be winding down judging by its lack of newsworthy stories?

Sam Moorcroft founded ChristianCafe back in 1999 to successfully match singles of the Christian Faith. He actually found later on that he had more interest and business from USA much like Markus Frind for his dating site Plentyoffish.com. From the study he did of the USA market, he discovered that up to 50% of his members were Born Again Christians.
Since then Moorcroft along with his wife, Pollyanna and his brother, Philip also started other faith based sites including RealsCafes.com and JewishCafes.com. Moorcroft has made some positive debates on the argument for paid and free dating sites as can be viewed on this blog.
It’s hard to say what ChristianCafe will get up to next, but be sure to stop by our Dating Reviews section of our blog when we will post a review of these faith-based dating sites.
