    Storyline
Jay (Imran Khan) is a assistant of Veer, a most famous romantic filmmaker of the Indian film Industry but in real life he hates love stories and is a Casanova and a disbeliever of love. For a new film he has to work under a production designer named Simran (played by Sonam Kapoor). Simran loves Bollywood romances so much so that even her life has started resembling one. She is living a beautiful, dreamy and blissful life with her fiancé Raj (played by Sameer Dattani), and seems to be a match made in heaven.

Jay hates Simran for her love towards romance and her strong belief in romance and at the same time Simran dislikes him because of his misbehavior and hatred towards love. As they have to work together the rift between the two diminishes and both of them become best friends with each other. In the meantime, Simran realizes that she is in love with Jay and due to this her relationship with Raj becomes eroded. She then confesses her feelings to Jay but he refuses her proposal and says that they were just good friends and that he doesn’t believe in love. As a result of the refusal, heartbroken Simran flies away to New Zealand for further shooting of the movie and there she ignores Jay. Now Jay starts to become uneasy and agitated without her and realizes that he too has fallen in love with Simran.

Jay invites Simran for dinner and there he proposes her but Simran denies his proposal and becomes tied up again with her ex – fiancé Raj and she don’t want to ditch him again. Brokenhearted Jay thinks that he doesn’t need love in his life and tries to forget Simran but his friends and mother persuade him not to give up. Meanwhile Raj proposes Simran and she accepts the proposal but soon realize that she is not meant for Raj and she still loves Jay. Simran explains her feelings to Raj and goes to the premier show of the movie hoping that she will get to see Jay there. But Jay had already decided to leave and has reached the airport waiting for the flight, there she talks to his mother and gets encouraged by her and goes back to the premier showing of the movie. In this manner both of them meet each other giving the movie a happy ending.

    Final Thoughts

“I Hate Luv Storys” is an usual love story and offers nothing new in the way of content in the movie. Director Punit Malhotra did a good job in dishing out a story with freshness. It as surprising to see why Karan Johar did not direct the movie who has created the essence of romance in his previous movie. Vishal Dadlani did a good make of vibrant music for the movie and did experiment himself as singer.

    Rating
“I Hate Luv Storys” bags 6 out of 10 for good music and only because of director Punit Malhotra who delivered interesting love story in spite of the story lacking freshness.

Prem (Ranbir Kapoor) is in the role of boy next door and looking for good job after graduation. After trying hard he joins his father’s restaurant. Prem and his friends help lovers by helping them getting married if their parents do not agree, they call it as social work.

When Prem saw Jenny he falls in love with her and tries to impress her but fate has decided something else for him & he comes to know that Jenny loved another guy – Rahul (Upen Patel) who is a son of conniving politician. When Jenny tells Prem that the father of the guy is not ready for their marriage, Prem had a plan with his friends to flee away rahul and make arrangement for their wedding. Thye have to make another plan to flee away with Jenny also as her parents decided to she will marry with rich guy.

This plot of the movie is weak and does now convince audience but with charm of Katrina Kaif and boy next door image helped movie to do well in cinemas. Romantic scenes in the movie are good and it is the first time Katrina and Ranbir worked together, both looked good onscreen. Ajab Prem Ki Gajab kahani has lot of funny moments in the movie which makes audience glued to their seat.

    Final Thoughts

Both Ranbir and Jenny look best in their role, all credit goes to Rajkumar Santoshi. Rajkumar Santoshi is the stable director in the Bollywood and has made movie of all genre like Romance, Musical, Drama, and Comedy. “Andaz Apna Apna” was his first hit comedy movie. Music of “Ajab Pre Ki Gajab Kahani” composed by Pritam who did fair job by giving it vibrant touch. Screenplay of the movie which made it looks good in spite of weak story line.

    Rating

“Ajab Pre Ki Gajab Kahani” scores 5 out of but I would like to add 1 more start for only because of the char that Katrina brings on the movie.

    Final Thoughts

Parineeta is a well directed movie by Pradeep Sarkar, manages to get the best out of all the characters. Best on the novel of Saratchandra’s Chatterjee written in mid 90’d but looks a fresh story. Vidya Balan has shows that she has talent and she can portray different style of characters. She has shows lots of grace in the movie, Saif Ali Khan was first time look very natural in Parineeta that show that he is improving. Sanjay Dutt shows flow less in his royal touch. Music is the soul of the movie with the song like “Piyu Bole” and “kasto mazza” are the pick of the songs. Shantanu Moitra did a fantastic job as Parineeta becomes his first hit movie.

Movie Reviews and Ratings of Thor - The God of Thunder

    Saturday, December 17th, 2011

    Movie Review: Thor
    Year: 2011
    Genre: Fantasy/Action
    Director: Kenneth Branagh
Stars: Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman

    Snapshot of Story:
Thor is born into the royal family of the fabulous city of Asgard, a far distant planet from earth and possesses fantastic powers and strengths nothing like that seen on earth. He is cast out of the realm by his Father (King) for disobedience and has to battle with the evil elements of the universe before being restored to his full glory.

Movie Reviews and Ratings of Thor - The God of Thunder

Movie Reviews and Ratings of Thor - The God of Thunder

    Story:
Thor came about in the midst of many Marvel movies such as the Green Hornet, Captain America and has a unique quality and entertaining value all of its own. The story though typical is well executed by the director and adds a charm, romance and chivalry into one package that leaves you feeling satisfied at the end.
Unlike the other movies with the exception of the X-Men, the story telling of these much loved Marvel comic heroes can be difficult in the two hours permissible. The Green Hornet fell mercy to this but Thor takes you on a fantastic journey that propels you through the action including the romantic scenes between the two stars Thor and the scientist Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman).

As always Anthony Hopkins manages to bring a strong presence to the role as King of Asgard and the characters of the two rival sons come out as both believable and strong. When Thor is evicted from his home planet and lands on earth we see a representation of a character that strives for more with his power but lacks the discipline of a responsible and a wise mature man. This is nicely carried forward into the predicament that he finds himself on earth and how his personality becomes shaped by people around him. In particular his gentle side of his character comes out when he is in the presence of Jane and the more toned down he becomes as he interacts with the other humans.
The final culmination of the movie happens when he is again given a chance to come back into his domain and kingdom and we can immediately see the new Thor. This was the very quality Thor’s father was looking for inside of his sone and it was a fitting end to the whole movie.

    Final Thoughts:
Thor is an interesting movie in that it does not try to buck the standards of movie making but the director has taken a different approach and addressed the ‘plot’ which makes a good movie. Most other movie makers will attempt to use all the latest techniques of movie making and therefore overshadow the whole plot. One notable movie that does this is Transformers where the overuse of special effects can lead to a confusing plot as in the last helping of the Transformers series. The director Kenneth Branagh manages to capture a fantasy movie that encapsulates all the action, romance and chivalry into one highly entertaining package.

    Rating:
    7.5/10

  • A good movie to enjoy on your date
