How important is complacency to dating relationships? - Dr Dato’s Brief
Tuesday, June 7th, 2011
The definition of complacency in the merriam-webster dictionary reads as follows;
’self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies’
In the reference dictionary online, the meaning reads…
‘a feeling of quiet pleasure or security, often while unaware of some potential danger, defect, or the like; self satisfaction or smug satisfaction with an existing situation, condition, etc.’
I believe complacency is a part of human nature that can lead to many issues arising in relationships and dating. It is in my opinion, also the primary reason why many women have complaints agains their male counterparts. Without sounding sexist or stereo-typing, females tend to be better guarded against complacency and they are more likely then males to make change, initiate change especially in the matters of relationships. It is probably the reason why women may sound ‘nagging’ to their partner but in actual fact trying to keep the relationship moving forward with actions and longer term interest. It may stem from the biological ingrained quality built into women and expecting their partner to provide food and shelter which can only be done with action.
Anyways, complacency in any walks of life can be bad not just in dating relationships but in businesses and our daily lives. It can suppress creativity, the sense of action and determination and most important all the evolution of one’s own self.

complacency is something we need to be always aware of in relationships

Professional Singles have plenty of time to date online
Tuesday, June 7th, 2011
Hardworking professionals needn’t be left behind in their quest for love. Although hectic schedules can ruin the chances of dating late evenings, there are plenty of professional singles dating sites to get into the dating scene. Online dating has plenty of perks for professional singles, who need to take full advantage of them. So, if you have a demanding job with little or no room for dating then the best way to find someone special is through free dating sites. There is a large population of professional singles on these sites looking for someone compatible, which takes a lot of stress out of searching for the right partner. Besides, you have a wide choice with so many single men and women signing up with these sites every day.

Singledom shouldn’t be a choice for professional singles. Neither do you have to work overtime just to avoid being alone. All you need is free dating sites to help you connect with the right type of girl or guy for you. If you are from the group of professional singles that are shy then dating online will help you overcome your bashfulness. Of course, there will come a time when you find someone that is ready to date. This is the time to move ahead and give your love life the boost it needs. By the time you chat and email a potential date, you will be able to break the ice easily on your first real date. Online dating makes it so much easier.

Eharmony’s personality dimension analysis - fact or fiction? - Dr Dato’s Brief
Tuesday, June 7th, 2011
The founder of the dating website, Eharmony Dr Neil Clark Warren advocates strongly the personality dimensional analysis that matches couple together on Eharmony and has proven to be a system that works.
I honestly think that Dr. Neil Warren does not believe that himself and particularly having worked 35 years as a clinical psychologist and marriage counselor (source Wiki).
Here are my arguments…
One of the most inspiring and thought provoking books I have read is ‘The Road Less Traveled’ by M. Scott Peck, M.D.
Scott spent his entire lifetime in his field of psychiatry and has always been amazed at the heart of people’s mind, thoughts and actions which he agrees is intangible in many ways and to categorize them only makes their conditions worse. He provides real examples where the factual evidence of science alone cannot explain some of the many improvements he witnesses in the human psyche.
This clearly shows the nature of the human being is far more complex than the one Dr. Neil Warren preaches. Personally, I think its a complete marketing ploy. One has to ask themselves has any of their previous relationships been based on a set of rules or been far more complex which required the adaptation of the two individuals working towards the betterment of the relationship at every level.

Read this book for inspiration, instead of believing that relationships are based on rules

Future of mobile dating - Online Dating Briefs by Dr Dato
Monday, June 6th, 2011
Oddly enough mobile dating has still not got the attention or traction it deserves and there are plenty of reasons for this. Despite the number of mobile internet users which are outpacing the desktop internet users, the mobile market although hot in many areas has yet to mature in other areas.
One of the areas where it has real potential but still lagging is the online mobile dating. Although there are some apps. already available by the likes of match, eharmony, zoosk there are still plenty of room for expansion. This becomes more obvious when you count the number of online dating sites available on the web and the number of mobile dating applications.
Although one can access the same web page through their mobile phone, the original website was ideally designed for the user sitting in front of a 20 inch or so lcd panel. Some of the mobile OS (operating systems) providers now have browsers that ‘mobilizes’ the current website to fit the smaller screen of the smart phone, fore example sites such as google mobile or m.yahoo.com.
Expect in the coming years the number of mobile dating applications to increase on the smartphone but initially the demand is going to exceed the supply due to the slow pace of websites of converting their site to the mobile equivalent. One primary reason for this is the additional cost of developing a mobile app.

mobile dating has a strong future but few contenders so far
