The home page of the mingle2 site is elegantly designed and crafted with orange and dark gray colors which are eye catching especially off the white background.
Login options for existing members are positioned to the very top and easy to locate.

I did not like the size of the button as they are very big in size in proportion to the rest of the page.

Registration Process

Like other websites this site also claims that registration process takes only 30 sec. My last experience with BookofMatches registration process took more than 1 min and profile was not fully competed. With mingle2 however, I was surprised to find that it took no more than 30 secs. to compete. The profile questions were general and sparse and I almost felt that I was sitting in quiz show. That said, I liked the fact that it was short and sweet. It also left you wanting more and felt that I wasn’t given an opportunity to express yourself. Like most other dating sites, the real ‘beef’ comes after you have joined the site where there are often a profile section to add further details about yourself.

After completing the registration process I received the confirmation email confirming that I was registered to the site. This is common on most sites and not just dating sites to avoid fake profiles and spam.

Login & Customizing Profiles

After completing the registration process, you are ready to search and find the best match against your profile through this site.

If you are used to customizing your profile like the other dating sites such as the theme and color combination, then this site wont disappoint you. However the privacy features of this site have been thoughtfully crafted.

You can restrict people by their age/location/relationship/religion as well as their looks and habits such smoking, drinking. If you are getting to many IM requests you can turn off the IM. Stealth Mode is a sneaky way to take a look at other people’s profiles without letting them know you are interested in them.

Photo Profile Section

You can only post photos from you computer, if you have photos stored at facebook/orkut or any other site then you need to download from there and then post them here. I did see an obvious change in the picture quality after uploading- it was little blurry. Uploading is quick and easy – not sure how many photos you can upload as

I tried uploading 10 pics and they all uploaded successfully. Photos are visible right away and photos of nudity are not allowed and can get you thrown off the site.

Search feature of the website is like all the other sites out there. Personally I like the advanced search of this site. Advanced search is where you can customize the search by relationship type, habit and all the options which you will fill while creating your profile. I would have liked to have seen the save search criteria which is a big omission from this site. You can find other people who are online but there appears to be no filter for screening out men or women.

Another omission was that in the navigation of the site, I could not see an option for going back to the home page or it wasn’t obvious to me right away, which is normally the case in most other sites.

The messaging section has all the features including mail, IM and ‘nudge her’. ‘Nudge her’ is the feature where you can ping the person in the same way as a normal IM client like yahoo. There is an unusual selection such as “Kick her in the butt” which I couldn’t see the need for.

A quick messaging option was not available and you need to send a normal email or if that match is online you can do an IM chat.
