Teen abuse is rampant across the globe. It is not confined to poor or developing nations or specific strata of society but across all nations and communities. Child abuse is any form of physical, emotional ill-treatment, neglecting the child or exploiting the child which might harm the health of the child and sexual abuse which will affect the development and psyche of the child.
Children are abused by their own family and it’s the neighbors who speak up. Every state in America (except Hawaii, Columbia and Virgin Island) enforces child abuse reporting law. Keeping the child safe is the responsibility of each person no matter where in the world you are. The person who does not report abuse is as guilty as the abuser himself. It not then only men are abusers, women too are party to child abuse in many subtle form. Neglecting the child and if you are a single mother then letting your boyfriend abuse your child automatically makes the woman party to abusing.
Children suffering from neglect or abuse are a hidden abuse which can occur in any religion, education level, culture and any economic level as well. This has become so common not only in USA but in other nations too. Child abuse statistics show that about 300 million children subjected to violence and 1.2 million are trafficked world-wide. These children who are trafficked are usually from poor communities and exploited.
Developed nations have a different form of child abuse where the child is not forced to do tedious labor jobs but sexually abused. It was found that almost 31% women residing in USA jails were abused in childhood. Abused or neglected children tend to become abusers themselves and 80% of abused children suffer some form of psychological disorder.
India a country that is one of the fastest developing nations in the world is walking on a tight rope due to the rampant sexual abuse that has thrown the country off-balance. A young girl was raped by five men when she was traveling in a bus with her fiancé which they thought was the regular transport bus run by the government. The girl was gang-raped, the guy physically abused and both were thrown out of the bus by the rapists onto the cold streets of Delhi. One rapist was a minor (a 16 year old) was the one who physically tortured the girl after raping her.

He read all the information about her, got her address, phone number, where she works, what she likes, the places she most frequently visits and what are her interests. All this information he gathered about her by spending time to visit various sites where she is registered to know more and more about her. He finally called her and introduced himself. Told her all about herself from the information she had given on various social networking sites and asked her for a date. More than surprise it was beyond comprehension that this guy found out so many details about her life and called her to date her.

The concept John applied maybe good but the approach was probably not right as the information he had about her made her feel sick and vulnerable. Bad incidents do happen in online dating too which is quite rare. Image search dating may not be acceptable to the human psyche as it makes one vulnerable. It may take a while for this change to take effect as it is more dynamic way of finding a person. Online dating sites are the safest way still to find the person for the evening or a life time as peace of mind, safety and security are the top priority for any sane person.

The house, business and property are all shared by the family members and passed on the son who is the heir. Status and respect in society is bigger than the individual person in India. Respect and face cannot be lost by going against the social norm. The girl is brought up in a manner where she is taught that the husband that the elders find for her is the right match and she has to live with him till her death no matter what. The girl cannot even think of having a relationship with any other man. Same applies to the guys, he cannot think of a relationship without the consent of the elders in the family as he may be thrown out of the family without a penny in his name.

The Indian society is changing but not so rapidly. The culture and values are so strongly imbibed in the brains that it will take a lot many generations for this to change. Yes there are a few who have changed their thinking and are open to a long distance relationship which makes one wonder whether they do understand the consequences or are just doing it because other westerners are doing it. It is still not the right time to begin a long distance relationship with an Indian, but hopefully it will get there.
