<<< Why is communication is more important to us than it has ever been - Part 1
We are now so heavily reliant on emails and texting that we have what is called ‘emoticons’ to convey our thoughts and feelings to the recipient.
we use emoticons to convey what we are feeling
The evolution of mankind has been to use body language, speech, gestures, flirtation as way of communicating to other fellow human beings.
It can be argued that the introduction of technological communication may prevent us from making viably happy and sustained lifestyles by replacing the need for human interaction at some level.
We may even find ourselves shutting out many people in our lives since not only do we wish to communicate less more openly but we also have one of the biggest information resources available to us, the world wide web.
The long-term consequence of this paradigm shift in communication amongst humans is not fully understood.

I will provide an example of how it can touch people’s lives without even thinking about it.
The other day, a person close to me chose to speak to me over the instant messenger about some issues on their mind, rather than confronting it face to face.

people often chat using instant messengers avoiding a confrontation
It’s possible that the person didn’t feel confident to talk about it openly, because of the fear of being not listened and having it dismissed.
However, the point is that more and more people can now feel ‘comfortable’ and operate behind this technological wall in order to get their opinions heard or have their say.
This begs the question of how it can impact relationships at all levels from couples, family, work place etc. particularly if there is a dependency towards communicating in this way.
