What we can learn from the recent Lance Armstrong revelation
Thursday, January 17th, 2013
Lance Armstrong was an athlete where his career spanned a quarter of a century in cycling. Last year he was stripped of all of his career titles including the famous Tour de France and was hit with a lifetime ban from the sport. It is one of those stories where if you can get away with it then ‘why not’. Unfortunately many people not just professional athletes or celebrities can be guilty of these kind of tactics. It’s important to understand how that these kind of situations arises from people and the importance of good moral conduct. In particular, a single person must be convinced that the person they are dating is of good standing and character, otherwise they may become a victim to a narcissist.
We all understand the word ‘temptation’ and this quality is a good test for anyone regarding moral conduct and behavior. A simple example would be stealing. If we had the right upbringing and character development then it would be considered bad to steal irrespective of any circumstances. What about if you found a $100 bill in a venue and you decided to pocket this rather than hand it in, would that be considered immoral. The gray area disappears when the advantages of having it without being caught or persecuted outweighs everything else.

The same can be said of a relationship, one may have the utmost conduct and moral personality but if the opportunity presents itself, many people do take it. The question becomes, how much does one go to get the personal gain at the expense of someone else or others. It is true that if someone is demanding, their expectations are more on what they want out of the relationship rather than the relationship being about you. Someone’s self interest and a focus on their own personal gain is a reflection of their character and it may not be well suited to you. This is where we speak about give and take in a relationship.
In Lance Armstrong’s case the initial desire for fame and fortune overshadowed any other scruples or morals that he may have had. He simply became blinded by these inner desires and the ease at which he got away with it made him do it all that more. We live in a world of many Armstrongs and before we dismiss him too quickly we need to check our own moral standing and character and ask ourselves how far do we go.

How would you react to a date that has a gun?
Wednesday, January 16th, 2013
We sometimes forget that living in a land of plenty that some things are borne out of necessity while other things have been culturally influenced. Many would agree that recent events in gun killings and where typically 43 persons die each day from gun violence here in the US that some serious actions need to be taken.

The US is probably the only nation that as an amendment clause that gives everyone the right to bear arms. This is understandable in the days when lawlessness was rife and we did not have the protection of the state police that we have today. However, are guns really necessary these days? I have spoken to a few advocates of gun use and they always seem to say the same thing which our great great grandfathers did and that is we need protection in case anyone invades our property. The intent to kill for any reason is abhorrent in my opinion unless you fear for you own safety and life. How does this equate to someone else’s views especially if you are close or you are dating them.
There is no doubt that someones aggressive stance in acquiring and maintaining a gun reflects much in their personality. Is it really for the protection of the well being or is it an act of showing power. I believe in these modern times, it is the latter. If your date does possess a gun, you are likely to be dating a person who relishes power. On the other hand you may also be dating a person that has low self esteem and gets a boost from possessing firearms. Gun possession represents a symbolic power that most likely changes as soon as someone makes first use of it. Take for example the 1992 western movie ‘Unforgiven’ starring Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman. These two had-been gunslingers come across a young rookie who has never used a gun and shows off his prowess with the gun but goes into deep brooding as soon as he kills someone for the first time.
The use of firearms has to be for the right reasons, make sure you get the right answers from your date who does possess a gun.

Guys…Stylish Ways to Wear Scarf on Evening Date
Wednesday, January 16th, 2013
Scarves are a fashion accessory for the stylish guy. When on an evening date wear your scarf not only to keep yourself warm but to add a style quotient to your personality by looping, twisting or wrapping the scarf. With a cold spell that all of us are having, this is a smart way to keep warm and show a bit of pizazz in the process.
Here are a few ways how to knot your scarf to impress her.
• Old School Loop Pull: Take a full length scarf, loop round the neck, and pull both ends from the loop to hang on your chest. Leave your jacket zip open
• Triangular Fold: Take a square scarf with fringes. Fold into half diagonally. Tie the two ends at the back of the neck with the triangular point facing down. Can be worn over a zipped up jacket
• Casual Shoulder Throw: Take a medium length scarf with cut ends. Fold it length-wise, wrap around the neck and toss one end over the shoulder
• Ascot Knot: Choose a rectangular, long scarf. Wrap round the neck with one end up to the waist. Cross this end over the shorter end, flip behind it and pull tight. Choose this for a formal dating evening
• Loose Wraparound: A long rectangular plain or printed scarf is to be used. Wrap around the neck with one end longer than the other. Drape the longer end around your neck and casually leave it across your chest
Knot your scarf to look stylish and not a boor to protect yourself from the winter. Walk away and come back to look at yourself in the mirror to adjust the length of the scarf. Yes walk back!
Dating Interracial Singles - 7 Things to Avoid Saying
Tuesday, January 15th, 2013
The world is shrinking as people are moving out from their own countries to other countries in pursuit of work or a better life. Each person is brought up in a different manner as per their religion, culture and tradition. Interracial dating has it own charm and excitement. The fascination for the other person is much higher as curiosity about the other person’s race, traditions and culture is always exciting and intriguing. When dating, bear in mind not to hurt or upset the other person unknowingly by mentioning something that is against their religion or culture. Allow them to talk about themselves since they will have a lot to say about the differences in cultures and you won’t step the line.
Seven things to avoid saying when you choose an interracial date:
1. Don’t assume you know each others race, cultures and ethnic makeup
2. Don’t pretend to be culturally enlightened
3. Guys never make any sexual remark or suggestion. Every culture and religion holds sex in a different light. It may surely be on your mind but restrain yourself from talking about this
4. Complimenting a woman is dicey. Though every woman loves to hear how beautiful or attractive she is, it also may convey that you are interested only in her looks which puts you in the unworthy and unsophisticated category
5. Hey ladies, talk less about your self and ask more about him. It’s ridiculous but true that men will think you are intelligent
6. There is no way to tell your companion that your family will not approve of this relationship. Don’t ask each other out if the cultural rift is too large to overcome. Think for yourself and understand the repercussions.
7. Don’t discuss marriage, children or exes on first few dates and don’t tell lies
