I have known some people who cleverly use the situation to their advantage and try to get free dinners out of the other person.

Some people have known not to flinch for a second when it comes time to paying the bill and expect that responsibility rests squarely on the other person.

However, in the interests of any date, most woman should choose to pay at least half even if there is an offer to pay the whole bill by the other person. This leaves a good overall impression where both persons credibility is preserved.

If you are unable to pay say it openly and honestly as this will strike a chord with the other person and you may find that person more forgiving and likes you even more for your open honesty.

The first date can be a bit nerve racking but there are a few rules to follow that will make the whole encounter relaxed and very enjoyable. Make sure to dress smart but not overly dressed for the occasion and to be clean with clothes that are clean and look uncreased.
