Let’s get right to the point. People are too busy to connect with members of the opposite sex in person and turn to online dating as a solution. While there are so many who have succeeded in dating online and finding the man or woman of their dreams, so of us goof up and make mistakes. Among my list of four of the worst online dating mistakes is the wrong photo in a profile. With Adobe leaving us with so many options to doctor a picture, the temptation to look younger, different, is always there. A nice headshot is all you need and not a decade old photo. Another mistake is making your profile into an autobiography. No one has the time, inclination, nor the patience to read an autobiography on a dating site. Keep personal details out and leave some other details for when you do happen to communicate with a potential date.

The third in my list of four of the worst online dating mistakes is the lack of flexibility. If you are too close minded and too picky then you may miss out on a chance to meet someone really interesting. This usually stems from taking everything at face value, which is not something you can do until you really meet up with someone on a real date. This leads me to what should top my list of four of the worst online dating mistakes. Ironically, this is sticking too long to cyber-communication. There comes a time when you need to meet in person or decide not to. The longer you delay the more the chance of your potential date slipping away. So, don’t delay for too long.
