There are a number of websites you can go to determine the traffic levels to the online dating site and these include Alexa, Compete, Ranking just to name a few.
In the Alexa report, you get a general idea of the website ranking overall in traffic rankings and a position of 200k or under is considered good. Look to the worldwide position to get an idea of numbers coming from rest of the world and using the website.
Compete.com allows you to compare two websites against each other to determine the traffic levels for the two.
Ranking.com allows you to see also how the dating sites compare with each other in their own category ie. matchmaking site, or personal site etc. Alexa typically gives you the overall site performance relative to ALL the sites available on the net.

We went through a few ways of evaluating a genuine dating site and not just simply taking it from it’s face value. These included browsing other parts of the site, checking footer links as well as going to Google and typing the domain (site) name.
There is an additional tool at our disposal and this is the whois look up tool, simply type ‘whois’ in the search box and you have a list of sites where you can look up a domain name and see who the site is registered to and other information. This can be a good way to determine the age of the domain, country it has been registered to, company registered under and so forth.
Next we will look at traffic data of websites to determine the traffic levels to the website and hence an idea of the number of visitors to the website.

If after having browsed through the site, you are still not certain about the site, the next best thing to learn about its popularity is to go directly to the search engines and type it’s name. For example say you wanted to check out “Jumpdates.com”, you will go to the google search box and type either “jumpdates” or “jumpdates.com”.
The results should tell you whether this site is fairly new or popular, in which case the popularity is measured by the number of search items returned in the Google SERPs page or by scanning through all the returned results or snippets.
The returned lists usually contains some relevant information regarding the site and this could be due to blog postings, reviews, user comments and much more. Be aware that some of the listings can be old, in which case you can gauge the age of the website. Next we will talk about another tool to check more details of the dating website.
