As a rather lonely and somewhat inexperienced man, I've been intriqued and inspired heavily by education thru the eyes of Carl Sagan and my sharp interest in mathematics which was born around that epoch. There were various causes that ignited my interest in this most objectively opinionated-as-an-uncolorful branch of science. First and foremost, in the year 1978 back in the 4th grade, was this remarkable arrangement of x's 's -'s with alpha-numeric letters, and numerical coefficients that stretched 3/4 of the way across the 8 1/2 wide page of an assignment. I had thought to myself, 'how awesome and smart I would feel if I could solve this thing in just a few seconds'. There was something about that x letter that was just calling me to solve it, and I would feel so accomplished and proud if I had been able to. After I called Miss Bodine over to explain this to me, I still hadn't learn to solve that strung out mathematical statement. For the time was not yet to be. Then, in 1979, I withdrew from my clownish behavior in school, to the studious student character. The PBS series Cosmos had come out. I was remarkably impressed that there would be this guy presenting this show in a presentable manner, bringing the upper-class English language down to the level of a "layman" at the time considering I grew up on a dairy farm. It planted a seed of hope that remains with me to this day that I might be able to relay the mathematical science to kids, possibly in the medium of tutoring or secondary teaching. Finally, and probably the most fundamental events that sprang forth my interest in mathematics was my questioning of quantities in the physical world such as how large is this can and will it fit, say 10 gallons of water? And having taken a jet plane trip to the "old country", and realizing it took 5 hrs to get there, how fast was the aircraft traveling? I'm basically looking for a humble and non-social butterfly to form a friendship.
