Unlike other companies at that time who were looking for ‘quick fixes’ the Ford Motor Company worked internally to resolve its own set of problems and become a rising star.
Few years ago when Ford was struggling, Alan Mulally met with all of his top executives and everyone was reluctant to admit their problems and issues within their own divisions.
Alan Mulally could see through this and eventually got every executive to be openly honest with each other and admit the issues that were not being addressed.
It was an action which led Ford to improving quality, reliability of their automobiles and an improved customer satisfaction and loyalty to its brand.
This put Ford firmly back into the global marketplace.
Because Fords first acknowledged and accepted its weaknesses, it was in a position to move towards self-improvement which it did. History is replete of such stories.
