Friday, August 10th, 2012
We all are aware about the wide use of online dating sites by singles to find their dating partner and its growing as more and more young singles are hooking to find love in this way. However, there are singles who are still cautious about it because they think that online dating sites will work or but they are suspicious of the social acceptance of these online dating sites.
Here are some of the questions that play mind games with these singles –
1. What about my reputation if someone from my professional contacts found me online on these dating sites.
2. Am I looking desperate?
3. Will it hurt my professional career if a new recruiter found me on these online dating while doing research?
All of the above questions are valid but, someone in their 20’s asking a question on acceptance of online dating is a bit strange. In fact this is the generation that supposed to be more advanced and forward thinking than the those who actually created the concept of online dating all those years ago.
Let’s take it this way, does it really matter where you find your true love? Before the online dating era singles used to meet their potential dating partner at a pub, bar and other social places and some of them still find their partner this way. Just like that online dating sites became a new destination for all, it as source to meet potential dating partners. The online dating industry is close to 15 years old now and don’t think for a moment if there is any confusion about its social acceptance.
Greg Woldrof – Former CEO of eHarmony (2006-2011) made some very interesting comment on this as people will say all good thing about the online dating if it works well for them and vise versa. He also added that it does not leave any negative impact between your friends or recruiters and it depends on your own attitude.
