Movie: Ladies V/s Ricky Bahl
Director: Maneesh Sharma
Year: 2011
Stars: Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Parineeti Chopra, Dipannita Sharma and Aditi Sharma
Snapshot of the story
“Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl” is another movie from the team of “Band Baja Baarat” however it fails to create the same magic as the previous movie. “Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl” is a story of a con man who cons the girls in different instances in disguises of Sunny, Dev, Iqbal. He has conned many girls amongst whom three form a team to take revenge. They hire Ishika (played by Anushka Sharma) as a millionairess girl to con Ricky. The plot of the story is well set in the first half.
Storyline
“Ladies v/s Rick Bahl” is a story of a guy named Ricky (played by Ranveer Singh) who con girls, sometimes with his charm and sometimes with his cleverness and whatever works best for him. He cons three girls named Saira (played by Aditi Sharma), Dimpy (played by Parineeti Chopra) and Raina (played by Dipannita Sharma) who team up to get even with him.
Ishita pretends to be millionairess girl and wants to start a hotel in Goa. Anushka Sharma looked good in the movie but does not have much part in the movie. Her role is very short as the director Maneesh Sharma introduces her in the second half. First half of the movie is interesting as it dishes out fresh content. Ranbeer Kapoor looks good in the movie and looks like he started where he left in “Band Baja Baarat”. Second half of the movie is quite predictable and the story looses it’s charm as it moves to the climax.
The story has the final twist in the tale where the trio thinks that they have fooled Ricky and have robbed a thief but later comes to know that this is again a con Ricky had setup for them.
Final Thoughts
Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl does not prove to be good for anyone except Parineeta Chopra as Dimple in the movie. She was good in the movie and her comic timing was very good. Ranbeer Kapoor would not gain anything from this and so does Anushka Sharma. Director Maneesh Sharma did a good job but failed to create charm in the same way as he did in “Band Baja Baarat”. Even the music of the movie did not give it an extra zing where needed.
Rating
“Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl” scores 6 out of 10 not because of the weak storyline but failed to live up to the good story that it promised in the first half.
