<<< What is flirting and why is it important? - Part 4
It was then, that I had a light bulb go off inside my head and I realized that I truly needed to be open-minded about this dance and cannot bring my old habits and integrate it into the dance.

different dance styles and techniques require different mindsets
I decided, I was going to take a step back and then deliberately posed a question to myself “I am going to completely ignore whatever I learned in salsa and try to learn tango as it is really taught”.
I was immediately surprised at my rate of improvement in the dance after I switched my thinking like this. I then realized what it truly meant to be open-minded.
To others it may seem obvious, but this was my rationale in thinking and which helped me overcome this difficult hurdle in appreciating this new dance.

Although having previous dance skills in another dance helps but the techniques and nuances of the dance are very different from each other and one needs to ‘open’ up to this dance without introducing the rigid and fixed rules of the previous dance.

learning a new skill faster requires a truly open mind
It is only when you go with a truly open mind and do not bring your previous habits or make any correlation with the previous dance, then you can expect to accomplish greater and faster results.
Suffice to say that not only did my dancing improve in Tango, but my dancing also improved in Salsa.
This kind of philosophy of thinking and attitude applies to many areas of learning where specialized skills are involved.

However, the fact remains that any self-improvement programs if applied effectively can bring an increased sense of value and accomplishments and hence a more positive outlook to peoples lives.

self-improvement books are widespread and in demand
We all want to feel happier in our daily lives and therefore there is an abundance of self-improvement programs and books widely available to us.
Flirting is a subtle way of interacting with other people mainly of the opposite sex and trying to make yourself and the other person feel better about themselves.
This requires an understanding of all the available dynamics of human interaction that comes into play and not just observing it but making USE of it.
It is like a dance where you engage with that person in the mind and acknowledge each other in whatever activity you are doing.
