If you were to plan a budget for your venture, plan on spending at least 80% of your budget on maintenance and marketing before you can even begin to see any return on your website.

Most online marketers will tell you that a fancy website with all the bells and whistles doesn’t amount to anything if you don’t have the traffic.

Sure, the bigger companies will spend top dollars to make their site very eye pleasing, but that’s only because they have an established ‘brand’ that they can push.

With newcomers in the field, it’s virtually impossible to get the traffic level or branding in the short space of time and even a slot in the Oprah Winfrey show can be short-lived.

Expect to work hard to push your online marketing efforts towards achieving any decent amount of traffic levels.
