(g) Be modest and more people will like you
We have all come across arrogant people who love talking about themselves and feel the necessity to burden people with their accomplishments, escapades etc and usually have little interest in other peoples affairs.
Such people are just not likeable, and many people would rather avoid them altogether.
It is arguable if they ever come to understand their personality flaw that usually puts off people rather than bring genuine closeness with other people.
Usually they will attract the very introverted type who themselves are insecure and have no real sense of value.
These conditions cannot exist for too long and the introverted personality may eventually ‘wake up’ and feel necessary to ‘be heard’ and thus speak out and consequently end the relationship.
Of course there is every right to speak of ones accomplishments, if it’s in the right context and of some value to the other party.
However, listening skills (point 6) are of paramount importance for creating a likeable personality and one that also draws respect from others.
