Has intimacy changed with the advent of online dating? Dr Dato’s Brief
I read a few recent articles that talks about intimacy and how this has changed people’s behavior through online dating. Is online dating leading to a quicker form of intimacy with amongst the users and has it opened the door to the widespread problems of sexually transmitted disease (STD)?
Although no real studies have been conducted to conclusively determine this trend, the online dating scene hasĀ definitely changed our perception of dating and no doubt the way we date, this cannot be disputed.
It is possible that the speed at which couples can meet online as opposed to the traditional methods of dating such as the bars, events, nightclubs may offer a more discrete form of dating where ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy maybe the norm. Perhaps the increase in use of digital media and the speed at which one lives their lives allows us to believe that with more action comes the results. What I mean by this, is that people maybe of the thinking that the more partners they are able to screen and go through, the likelihood they will land themselves the right partner.
Just some thoughts.
